Estudo de usuários em unidades de informação do Centro de Educação da UFSM

Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the profile of the users of the Library and the Archive of the Education Center of UFSM. To that end, sociocultural issues, research habits, kinds of cultural and informational needs were observed, questioned and analyzed so as to identify which are the strengths (which must be preserved) and the weaknesses (which must be improved). A printed questionnaire was developed to be answered randomly by the users who circulate in the Center on the three academic shifts. Meanwhile, theoretical framework was sought concerning research already carried out about study of information center users. With these two basic study elements (questionnaire and theory), it was possible to create a specific profile of the users of that department in a way as to, in a next stage, plan services, products and attendance that are adequate to the real necessity of this specific audience.
