| dc.description.abstract | Among the numerous problems that occur in dairy cattle hatcheries are highlighted the pedal
diseases which can cause significant economic losses. The aim of this work is to describe the
most relevant pedal diseases from dairy herd, their predisposing factors and their prevention;
in addition, it shows methods of how to evaluate the damage caused by this problem. The
information was based on literature review, and on clinical cases observation occurred during
the period of residence at University Veterinary Hospital of Federal University of Santa
Maria. The results of the discussion about the relationship pedal disorders x economic factors
shows that only with control of the predisposing factors and with assistance of specialized
technical monitoring losses related to pedal diseases can be decreased. | |
