Abstract

Advances in technology made information technology and wireless communication be part of the ordinary agenda and no longer to the technical one, directly impacting the people quality of life. An example of this impact is the use of small devices, known as sensor nodes, for measuring environmental variables in order to provide people awareness about the surrounding environment. From the data collected by these sensors, it is possible to estimate how much a given area may or may not harm the health of the population around it and assist in better implementation of public health policies in a preventive manner, anticipating problems caused by environmental impact in humans.
