Urinary spontaneous visible luminescence is enhanced in children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This result is indicative of systemic oxidative stress in DMD patients. It is proposed that measurement of the urinary luminescence could be employed to follow the progress of the disease, as well as the response of the patients to antioxidant therapy. © 1994.
