The interaction of glutathione with four β-lactam antibiotics was studied by an AC polarographic procedure. The interaction stability constant and the coordination number were calculated from the AC polarographic data. The results underscore the importance of polarography as a tool for the study of biologically significant interactions and suggest a previously undescribed biótransformation pathway for β-lactam antibiotics. © 1988.
