The reactions of N,N′-thiobismorpholine, {A figure is presented}, with Fe(CO)5, Fe2(CO)9, Fe3(CO)11 and [(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)2THF]BF4 were examined. Thiobismorpholine undergoes desulphurization towards Fe(CO)5 with formation of Fe3(CO)9S2, while the novel complex Fe(CO)4{A figure is presented} was isolated and characterized from the reaction with Fe2(CO)9. On the other hand, thiobismorpholine is somewhat unreactive towards Fe3(CO)11 but it undergoes SN fission with [(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)2THF]BF4. © 1990.
