Mapudungun en Santiago de chile: vitalidad, lealtad y actitudes lingüísticas

Abstract

El presente artículo corresponde a los principales hallazgos de una investigación de carácter exploratorio que realizamos durante 2003 en agrupaciones mapuches vinculadas al Sindicato de Panaderos de Chile (CONAPAN), en particular, los sindicatos número 3 y 4, y la Liga Cultural Mapuche Kolo Kolo. La información provino de un total de 19 informantes, vinculados directa o indirectamente a estas estructuras de transición. Las preguntas a las que se buscaba dar respuesta decían relación con la situación lingüística del mapudungun en Santiago de Chile, tanto desde un punto de vista socio lingüístico como etnolingüístico, considerando tópicos tales como la 'lealtad lingüística', las actitudes lingüísticas hacia esa variedad y su diferenciación funcional respecto de la lengua oficial del país, el español.

This article is an accounl of the main findings of research work conducted during 2003 with mapuche organizations related to the Bakers 'Trade Un ion ofChile (CONAPAN); in particular, Trade Unions 3 and 4, and the Mapuche Cultural League Kolo Kolo. The data were provided by 19 informants, directly or indirect(v related to these transition structures. The questions that needed answering referred to the linguistic status of the mapudungun language in Santiago. Chile, both from the sociolinguistic and the ethnolinguistic points of view, as regards such tapies as 'linguistic loyalty ', linguistic altitudes toward~ this variety and its functional dijferentiation in respect ofthe oJficiallanguage ofthe country, Spanish.
