Forms of Participation in the Community Radio Enabled Táchira: Field Study

This study on communitarian radios in Táchira approaches the citizen participation in the communitarian radios authorized by Conatel in the State of Táchira. Hence, this study is based on the management and participation of the citizens in the communitarian foundation beyond their role as recipients, but as producers of the message. In this way, the purpose is to determine the degree of citizen participation in the communitarian media. It is a qualitative, quantitative, descriptive and explanatory study, having as well a documentary investigation design and field work, through the revision of the Regulation for nonprofit Broadcasting and Open Communitarian Public Television (RRTACSFL, 2002) and other normative instruments in communicational matter. The theory are based on the postulates regarding the communitarian media management formulated mainly by Villamayor and Lamas (1998).The semi-structured interviews technique was applied to the media’s directors plus the programming in one week of each radio station was collected in a card. The data were analyzed using SPSS15.0 and ATLAS-TI 5.2. The findings described a media with a not plural participation tendency and tend to support the national government.
