This paper explores the intergenerational education mobility froma regional perspective. The key question is in which cities and regions is theremore independence between the education of parents and offsprings? Differencesbetween migrants and non-migrants are also studied. Seven mobility indexesand two different surveys are used. Results are sensitive to the index, forthat reason mobility studies must use several indexes. Some indexes are morelikely to be reliable. According to these indexes, there was higher mobilitywhere average education levels improved the most.
