Uso del gas como recurso estratégico en la política exterior rusa. Análisis de caso Ucrania periodo 2000-2010

Abstract

Case of study where is analyzed the use of natural gas as a strategic resource in Russia's foreign policy, specifically in its relation with Ukraine. It describes and analyzes how the geo-strategic location of Ukraine creates a perception of security and economic relevance in Russia, and how the Russian Federation uses natural gas as a pressure method against the Ukrainian state to meet its national interests in terms of the elements mentioned above. All of this, through the Theory of Heartland developed by Halford Mackinder and Zbigniew Brzezinski´s Concept Pivot Area in order to determine how the importance of the Ukrainian state is set up for Russia .
