Modelo de internacionalización del sector de reciclaje en Colombia

Abstract

This document provides an analysis of three recycling companies: Smurfit Kappa Cartón de Colombia S.A., Fibras Nacionales S.A.S and Ecoeficiencia S.A.S, to learn the application of the theories of internationalization and see how they developed in the Colombian. The recycling industry is currently little explored and exploited in Colombia, The first reason is the low interest of public and private sector in achieving the many social and economic benefits that this sector offers, since it is considered a non-formal sector into Colombian Economy. In addition, this document describes the current situation of the three companies based on a literature review of internationalization theories and the application of them to each of the companies. Finally, we propose the path of internationalization of the recycling industry in Colombia and a general logistic model for companies of this sector.

The strategy is to propose and implement a cluster for the the realization of the path of internationalization of the recycling industry. It is necessary to develop a network of companies, agencies and public and private institutions within the environment of recycling and waste management for industry consolidation. The aim is that this document will serve as a means of consultation for entrepreneurs and companies interested in improving the living standards of the recyclers, contribute to the environment and improve competitiveness and productivity of recycling in Colombia and managed to become a world-class industry. It is noteworthy that as the sector is formalized, the recyclers will benefit themselves and make an important part of a value chain that will improve current industry conditions and may participate actively in the economy, generating an overall positive impact.
