dc.description.abstract | Introduction Currently anemia and obesity during pregnancy are consideredmodifiable risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage. This can be avoided within the prenatal control, and its preconceptional treatment contributes to reduce maternal mortality and perinatal morbidity.
MethodologyWe conducted a systematic literature review with meta-analitic component according to the evidence available to date. MeSH terms included postpartum hemorrhage, severe anemia, overweight, obesity and others. All items were rated by their evidence before calculating the component meta-analític.
Results There were a total of 321 articles related to anemia, and 276 for obesity, including 8 and 14 respectively, met the criteria for selection. Most items were classified as evidence for anemia IV and II-III obesity. The most common causes of exclusion were the title of the article and the type of study. Both anemia and obesity (classified by BMI) show no statistically significant OR with wide confidence intervals, although the trend is set to greater risk weight, increased risk of bleeding.
Discussion The results show that both anemia and obesity are in trend to a greater risk for postpartum hemorrhage, but there were no statistically significant results. More studies on the subject are missing in the country. | |
