Análisis de los alcances geopolíticos de PETROCARIBE como una estrategia de la política exterior de Venezuela. Periodo 2005-2011

Abstract

The interest of this paper is to analyze the geopolitical reach of Petrocaribe as a strategy in Venezuelan foreign policy, during the period 2005-2011. It describes the fundamental conditions that Latin America presents and how the Venezuelan foreign policy promotes new institutions of regional and hemispheric dialogue, integration and cooperation. Following Neoliberal institutionalism´s assumptions of Robert Keohane, it is evaluated the particular case of Petrocaribe and its implications for the Venezuelan interest, looking for determinate the reasons why Petrocaribe, despite of the benefits for its members, has no appropriate conditions for its sustainability in the medium and long term.
