This work is part of the research project of Business Thanatos, the purpose of the theme was selected in order to find a common factor or pattern between the Colombian mining companies, taking into account those that have been settled, are studying a process compulsory liquidation or even are developing activities. The work was divided into three main parts. In the first express the problem that presents the country for premature mortality of firms in the country, problems that is increasing rather than decreasing, despite more than four decades have been creating and modernizing laws that seek to encourage the creation sustainable enterprises and in the same way helping those who find it necessary to enter into a liquidation process. The second part of the investigation is nourished by data collected by entities, primarily the state, over the past 15 years, through which you can see in detail the numbers of companies that have been going into liquidation processes, concordat, reorganization etc. And how despite laws, very few are those that manage to survive this process. The results obtained by analyzing these data confirm precisely this premise; existing laws are not being enough to stop the death of companies with respect to the mining sector. Companies do not make decisions for themselves; under the command of them are different people like captains of a ship directed the course of it, depending on which decisions are taken from the direction and management company managed to walk the path of success or of failure. Sadly many of Colombian entrepreneurs decide to run your company without seeking help from some quarters that were created to help prevent the crisis and companies such as chambers of commerce, and therefore due to inexperience or abuse making risky decisions eventually jettison the company and getting into trouble all who one way or another interact with it. This research is significant when those who want to create business, seek information about the problems before they can take when they enter the market, finding in this work an invaluable tool in managing the crisis which serves as a guide to avoid repeating the pattern that causes the premature death of many companies in the mining sector and generally in the Colombian economy.
