From National Security to Democratic Security: New problems, old arrangements

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the assumptions that are behind the recent discussion about the notion of security in the Colombia case. To be more precise, in this paper I discuss the principles and goals of the policies of defense of the current government that is called Democratic security. Finally, I will try to evaluate to which extend these policies produce a conceptual change in the field of nation's security.
