Resumen
The Islamic Revolution is considered a determinant event for the foreign policy of Iran. One of the direct consequences was the radical change in its formulation towards the powers and the countries of the region. Since 1979 with the establishment of the new Islamic regime, Iran developed a policy that responded to the revolutionary causes, and was oriented to the independence and non-alignment.
This paper presents the analysis of the change that produced the Islamic Revolution in the formulation of the foreign policy of Iran to the United States from the period of the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran, until the death of the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1989.
