During 1998 and 2002 El Pomar went through a severe economic crisis characterized by declining sales and lack of liquidity that led to serious problems with suppliers. Similarly, there were deficiencies in the management of administrative and financial areas generating weaknesses against the competition, because they lacked the internal controls processes. From 2001 until 2003, sales of the company had fallen by 65%, resulting in the closure of four traders who had and breach of its fiscal, financial and obligations with their suppliers.
Given this situation advises the Board process a restructuring agreement under Law 550 of 1999 in order to pay its creditors. This agreement was formalized with suppliers on November 8, 2003 in which all parties were agreed after the Superintendency of Corporations give endorsement to run. For 2010 the company managed to overcome this stage, after the administration focused on regaining lost market share, the company was sold to Colombian shareholders to acquire capital and made strategic alliances with other companies.
