Abstract

This special is a tour for the attempts to reach peace with the second most important guerrilla in Colombia today: the Army of National Liberation. The ELN has approached, although elusively, to peace process with the Colombian governments since 1982, but at some point along the way it has receded. Here, these approaches are collected, from Belisario Betancur to Juan Manuel Santos, also opens the space to its history and ideology, to understand why it is so complicated to negotiate with this armed group.
