Abstract

This case study evaluate the consequences of the transformation of illegal armed groups in Algeria to French security and defense. It analyzes and explains how following the change of name of the GIA to GSPC, and the latter the current AQIM, the French government has changed its perspective on the threats to his state, leading to the tools for the protection of national security arise changes in order to counter these new scenarios of insecurity. This authors like Walter Laqueur and Barry Buzan Mohammed Ayoob will be presented in order to establish a theoretical framework for progress towards the objective of this research, which focused on demonstrating the change in security policy and defense of France from illegal armed groups in Algeria during the period 2007-2013
