La influencia del derecho universal a la libre autodeterminación de los pueblos en la construcción de las Relaciones Bilaterales entre Palestina e Israel (1993-2004)

Abstract

This paper focuses on the role that the right to self-determination has had in the construction of the bilateral relations between Palestine and Israel in one of the most prosperous periods of the history of the two nations, the period between 1993 and 2004. Through the analysis of certain historical events and some demonstrations of the right to self-determination during the period of study, this document seeks to explain how these events had important repercussions in the relations between these two peoples. This study is based on Alexander Wendt’s constructivist approach as a theoretical tool, that supposes that the construction of relations among different actors in the International System relies on a series of ideas and shared beliefs instead of, exclusively, the material capacities.
