dc.description.abstract | Background: Obesity is a global health problem and bariatric surgery is the best proven treatment. The gastric bypass (RYGB) is the most widely used method that combines restriction and malabsorption: however restrictive procedures have become popular recently. The Gastro-gastroplasty produce gastric restriction by a reversible gastric pouch with gastrogastric anastomosis and we proposed the evaluation. Methods: Nonrandomized retrospective study that evaluated patients with GG and RYGB laparoscopic between February 2008 and April 2011. Results: The sample consisted of 289 patients, 180 GG y 109 RYGB which 138 met inclusion criteria, 77 (55.8%) GG and 61 (44,2%). RYGB 18 (13%) male and 120 (87%) female. For GG the median of initial weight was 97.15 (± 17,3) kg, The BMI initial was 39,35 (± 3,38) kg/m2 and overweight of 37,1 (±11,9). The media of BMI in the 1, 6 and 12 months was, 8 (±3,58) kg/m2, 30,81 (±3,81) kg/m2, 29,58 (±4,25) kg/m2 respectably. The media of % PEP 1,6,and 12 months was 30,9 (±14,2) %, 61,88 (±18,27) %, 68,4 (±19,64) % respectably. For RYGB the media of initial weight was 108,1 (±25,4) kg, BMI initial was 44,4 (± 8,1) and overweight of 48,4 (±15,2) %. The media of BMI at 1, 6 and 12 months was 39 (±7,5) kg/m2, 33,31 (±4,9) kg/m2, 30,9 (±4,8) kg/m2 respectably. The media of % weight loss at 1, 6 and 12 months was 25,9 (±12,9) %, 61,87 (±18,62) %, 71,41 (±21,09) % respectably, up to one year. Conclusions: The gastro-gastroplasty technique is seen as restrictive, reversible, with optimal results in weight loss and as a surgical alternative in patients with obesity. Studies are needed to demonstrate longer-term maintenance of changes over time. | |
