Objective: To determine factors associated with adverse reactions to fresh frozen plasma transfusion in the FCI-IC for the years 2008-2010. Methods: Case-Control Study in the ratio 1:3. Patients over 18 years transfused with fresh frozen plasma in the FCI-IC for the years 2008-2010. Cases were defined as patients identified from the registration of adverse transfusion events of the FCI had an adverse reaction to fresh frozen plasma transfusion of the following types: allergic, febrile, noncardiogenic pulmonary edema, volume overload, CID or PTT. Controls were defined as people who received fresh frozen plasma transfusion and meeting the selection criteria, showed no adverse reaction transfusion. Results: The age of cases was significantly lower (52.4 vs. 60.5 p = 0.001). For allergic reactions, the number of units of plasma from an external drive (0.7 vs. 0.0 p = 0.003), a female donor (2.5 vs. 1.4 p = 0.11 ) and parity of these donors (4.0 vs. 2.6 p = 0.04), were on average higher than for controls. The presence of sepsis (OR 0.01, 95% :0,01-0, 87, p = 0.015) and diabetes (OR: 0.9, 95% :0,01-0, 54, p = 0.003) behaved as protective factors for the development of an allergic reaction. Discussion and Conclusions: The results of this study are consistent with the fact that adverse reactions are related to plasma transfusion from a blood bank external donor women and women with a greater number of pregnancies.
