SAP: Ensamblado a la medida de GM Colmotores

Abstract

The systems and information technologies are a vital element on a company´s success. For this reason, they establish an essential study area on the management and direction of a business. In the present, IT investigation and the businesses´ performance, has discovered that the more successful the companies align information technology with its goals, the higher profit are going to obtain, and just a quarter of the firms accomplish the alignment between IT and its business´ process. (Luffman, 2003)This strong trend has had an interesting peak among Colombian companies of all sizes and economy sectors; for this reason we have been wanting to study an international company with solid presence in Colombia, to describe the implementation process of its corporate management systems and resources (ERP) SAP ECC and its integration inside the General Motors Colmotores enterprise; mainly with the objective of doing an analysis of the use of the principal SAP modules and sub modules of Financial Accounting, Production and Sales & Distribution and how non-SAP applications and programs are integrated with the ERP. This project´s final document will be very useful case of study for all those students interested in the use and exploitation of company´s information systems, in this way is going to synthesize the experience during the implementation preparation, the development, improvement, and the results, from the direct employee involved point of view. The information is going to be obtained through scheduled visits and interviews, with the objective of gathering evidence of the IT reality of General Motors Colmotores with SAP.
