The current thesis is a Book Chapter with the title "Ultrasound Guided Regional and Peripheral Anesthesia in the intensive Care Unit" for the second edition of the book "Manual de Ultrasonido en Terapia Intensiva y Emergencias" (Prado editorial, Mexico). It is addressed to medical students and also specialists in critical care, anesthesiologists, pain, internal medicine and emergency medicine. Bearing in mind that ultrasound guided regional anesthesia has been traditionally confined to the operating room, it´s main objective is to complement the practical knowledge necessary to perform regional anesthesia techniques in the intensive care unit. It´s language is simple and the chapter has been written in order for it to be an easy consult reference for the usefulness, viability and implications of using regional anesthesia techniques in the critical care setting.
