Bogotá 1890-1910: population and urban transformations

Abstract

This article tries to show the problem of population growth in Bogotá, and the perception of it during the term that goes from 1890 to 1910. It also explores the impact of this growth in urban transformations that occurred during those years and the housing problem that had a place in this scenery. The analysis period was chosen because it is the final stage of the transition between the colonial city and the bourgeoisie city

O presente artigo tenta dar conta do problema do crescimento populacional e a percepção do mesmo em Bogotá, durante o período que compreende as décadas de 1890 a 1910. Também aprofunda no impacto deste crescimento nas transformações urbanas que se apresentaram durante tais anos, e no problema da moradia gerado neste cenário. O período de análise tem sido escolhido por ser a etapa final de uma transição entre a cidade colonial e a cidade burguesa.
