Abstract
The objective of this study was to design a model of early intervention for suicide prevention in both children and adolescents school population in private and public schools in Bogotá City. For this aim, the suicide problem was characterized in Bogotá City in the last nine years, legal aspects, some prevention models were analyzed, the main risk suicide and protection factors were identified and some behavior strategies to its prevention were proposed. This model is based in the social management of risk with emphasis on risk and protection factors. A test aimed to measure depression, hopelessness and anxiety levels was performed. The instruments used for the study were: Children´s Depression Inventory (CDI of Kovacs), The Hopelessness Scale, Beck’s HS, and The Spence Children´s Anxiety Scale, internationally validated. The last results showed a positive correlation (0.490) in the Spearman's range, and signification of 0, 01 (bilateral) for the three risk factors. An instruction book for early intervention is given, as well as a leaflet to the families for detection of risk and protection factors. From this, future implications are shown.
