Movimientos sociales su construcción narrativa desde los nuevos medios: los Indignados bogotanos en Twitter

Abstract

This work analyzes the relationship between social movements and new media in Colombia and, particularly, the narrative possibilities of social movements in the new online communication environment. It is a descriptive study of the storytellings developed in the social network Twitter by virtual activists of the outrage movement emerged in Bogotá after the dismissal of Mayor Gustavo Petro in late 2013. It was found that Twitter was a space essentially in dispute. The storytelling of the movement was permanently counterpointed not just with traditional media informations and the speeches of political leaders, but also with citizen rival expressions, who also mobilized on the same social network. This research uses Manuel Castells´ analytical framework "mass self-communication".
