Concepción y estructuras diferentes del doctorado para formar investigadores.

The “Escuela Superioe de Comercio y Adminsitración” doctorate program specialized in administrative sciences of the “Instituto Politecnico Nacional” (IPN) was until 1995 of the schoolarized nature, organized by subjects. The average time spent by the student at that time to obtain a degree was 11 years. On that year the IPN officially authorized a new restructured program. The main objectives of the program are: a) to form researchers; b) to improve the number of graduates effectiveness. The main assumptions, hypothesis and strategies ar the foundation of the program were:-The Doctorate in Sciences degree is the highest formal education attainable level that exist at the world and national levels.-Canditates that enter the program are self-sufficiente learners and hold a masters degree.-Researchers are forms through doing research not attending classes with professors thar communicate to them their knowledge and experiences.-Practice makes researchers not the scholarly exercises and practices realized by professors in simulated classroom scenarios.-The aptitudes and competencies required of a doctor in sciences.-Quality is attained through interdisciplinatity and through national interintitutionality .The main results are: 1) Tograduate researchers with the degree of Doctor in Sciences in 4 years average time, b ) an improvement of the number of graduates effectiveness by 275%, from july 1995 through August 2003 the number of graduated doctors has been 46.This auto.evaluation of the doctoral program fives evidence of the contributions to the generation of a new paradigm in the conception and the educational structure of the post-graduate programs.
