Los carteles del narcotráfico en el Fútbol Profesional Colombiano: estructura de oportunidad

Abstract

The interest of this paper is to analyze the degree of impact the structures of opportunity has had in the participation of the Colombian cartels in Professional Football in Colombia. This element is an essential part of this phenomenon as it undresses the arbitrariness with which the entry of “narcotraffic” in football has been understood. Likewise, with the theoretical concepts of Charles Tilly, Sidney Tarrow and Doug McAdam, the behavior patterns of such groups in their quest to consolidate power, wealth and social acceptance are evaluated. Finally it is understood, under the scope of an antithetical case, how the structure of political and economic spaces opened opportunities for infiltration and not vice versa, as has been thought. The result of the research identifies and tests, using three specific cases, the true causes of the infiltration of the Colombian cartels in Colombia’s Professional Soccer.
