Resumen
Colombia has traditionally been an exporter of bananas, with the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union is possible that the country will improve its position in this market of over 500 million people, however, and under the assumption that in the future Ecuador (the world leader in banana production) and Costa Rica will sign FTAs with the European Union. From the above we can say that the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union represents a high growth potential for the country, but also carries with it a number of threats and challenges that Colombia has to face to bring the agricultural sector to high levels of productivity and competitiveness, the country has initiated a transformation phase to turn it into an attractive economy, this is why the government has decided to sign agreements that will allow new opportunities through preferential access to markets such as the European Union.
