Resumen
The inventory management is one of the biggest challenges facing companies today, especially those that handle products with a high probability of damage and breakdowns. For that reason, defining policies or an inventory management system would ensure longer perdurability and sustainability in the market. Thus, the purposed project developed in Diageo, a multinational company of massive consumption of the spirits beverage sector, was registered in the Management research line of Universidad del Rosario.
In this way, under the Functional areas for management program which is focus in business sustainability, the Management research line seeks to generate knowledge about finance, marketing, operations and human resources management. Therefore, taking into account the premise which says that a lasting company is the one which “adapt their management to the intensity of the sectorial environment conditions and the market forces” (Leal, Guerrero, Rojas, & Rivera, 2011), is necessary to guide the resources and the company efforts to a new inventory policy in the wines portfolio, in order that the increment of the service level impact in a positive way the profitability and liquidity KPIs.
