Cáncer gástrico en pacientes de Méderi – Hospital Universitario Mayor entre los años 2011 - 2014

Introduction: Gastric cancer is one of the most frequent in the world and Colombia is among the countries with the highest incidence in this type of pathology.
Objective: To describe the epidemiological, clinical, treatment and immediate outcomes of patients diagnosed with gastric cancer at the Hospital Universitario Mayor de Bogotá between 2011 and 2014.
Methodology: It performance a descriptive observational study about characteristics of patients with a diagnosis of gastric cancer. Univariate analyzes were performed by means of proportions for the qualitative variables and measures of central tendency for the quantitative variables according to the normal distribution.
Results: 189 patients were analyzed. Pain was the most common symptom in patients (30.7%) and the main sign found was a palpable mass in the abdomen (9.5%). Patients underwent different therapeutic approaches, most received nonsurgical palliative treatment (52.9%) and the most used in patients was total gastrostomy (20.6%), followed by the subtotal (16.4) followed by chemotherapy surgical option and / or perioperative radiation. Patients who survived 2 years were 7.4% of the total.
Conclusions: The gastric cancer register is good at Mederi-Hospital Universitario Mayor is good and to characterize patients presenting pathology and treatment outcomes consistent with those presented in similar contexts in literature.
