Abstract

The interest of this paper is to explain the configuration of Turkey’s Foreign Policy in the study of International Affairs. This is essential for analyzing the behavior and actions taken by Turkey with the arrival of the AKP and the changes of the international system, from the role of national identity in the construction of its Foreign policy to the Middle East. Also, it is questioned the principle assumptions of realism, by using an alternative analysis showing that Turkey has different ways to create and project the country’s self-image. Finally, it explains how constructivism allow us to analyze the national identity of Turkey, kemalist and neotoman, its importance in the construction of the Foreign Policy, how it’s understood by others and how it constructs the national interests that are reflected in Turkey’s Foreign Policy.
