Resumen
The main world airports have radically changed their vocation of just aircraft transportation to integrate territories, and to become into productive gear shafts that drive the economy of the contemporary cities. In this regard, the current research is looking forward to examining how the planning model of the El Dorado International Airport (IATA: BOG) has been and what is the role played by the immediate environment in such model. Has the (IATA: BOG) been conceived as a physical space that brings together the territory and catalyzes productive chains and supra-regional economic activities? The aim of this senior thesis is to prove through a qualitative and quantitative analysis, that in contrast to global trends, the planning model of the El Dorado International Airport is still based on the traditional sectorial approach, which creates a negative economic impact in the city of Bogota and its metropolitan area.
