Resumen
This research work contains a discussion of the concept of competitiveness within the World Economic Forum and the Colombian business reality; developed taking into account the methodology, approaches, indicators and sources of information implemented by the World Economic Forum in its Global Competitiveness Report to evaluate the productive level of the Nations of the world order to weigh their performance in the world of competitiveness. The first chapter contains the theoretical framework, covers issues of competitiveness and business realities. The second chapter speaks of the background of competitiveness in Colombia; highlights the importance and significance of the report of the Monitor Company. The third chapter indicates the level of competitiveness of Colombia and its business reality; analysis of the Competitiveness 2009 National Report issued by the private Competitiveness Council was performed. The final chapter is in charge of disaggregating all relevant aspects of the global competitiveness report; its methods, approaches, indicators and information sources. The conclusions include reflections of the level of reliability of the global competitiveness report, discuss the impact of the rating given by the FEM for Colombian business realities, discuss the profile of the Colombian economy and its behavior regarding past on competitiveness.
