ALTERNATIVE SANCTIONS IN THE JUVENILE PRISON POPULATION

Abstract

Any item to be addressed from the public policy analysis is interesting because it allows you to discover, from a perspective that claims to be objective, if decisions or state management is on the right track and study of juvenile criminal sanctions is one of those subjects.That is why in this article you will find a brief history on the model response to juvenile crime in Costa Rica from 1963 to the present, which would give reason for the current institutional and administrative organization and management, as well how to describe details of the concept, types of alternative sanctions, its implementation and some challenges.

Todo tema que sea abordado desde el análisis de las políticas públicas es interesante porque permite descubrir, desde una óptica que pretende ser objetiva, si las decisiones o la gestión estatal van por el camino adecuado y el estudio de las sanciones penales juveniles es uno de esos temas.Es por ello que en éste artículo podrá encontrar una breve reseña histórica sobre los modelos de respuesta hacia el delito penal juvenil en Costa Rica desde 1963 hasta la actualidad, que permita dar razón de la estructura institucional actual y su organización administrativa y de gestión; así como describir detalles del concepto, tipos de sanciones alternativas, su implementación y algunos desafíos.
