In recent years obesity and associated non-communicable diseases including cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes have become the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide [1]. From taxes on sugary-sweetened beverages to diet and exercise interventions, a variety of tools have been implemented to combat this twenty-first century epidemic. Many of these diet and exercise interventions target pregnant women in particular due to the added benefits of improving fetal health outcomes and higher rates of success as compared to interventions among obese adults
