| dc.description.abstract | Este estudio teórico propone que, más que el fin de la fotografía, en realidad
estamos experimentando una continuidad y una ampliación sin precedentes de lo fotográfico en la
época digital. Dos tesis generales estructuran su argumento. La primera señala que habríamos
pasado de un régimen foto-dermatológico (la superficie contactada) a un régimen de ultrapiel
(superficies líquidas, presencias desencarnadas, “posibles digitales”). La segunda indica que esta
ruptura entre la foto-dermatología y la ultrapiel digital, a pesar de su radicalidad, no hace sino
revivir y potenciar un concepto siempre latente (y reprimido) de la fotografía, el de “avatar”. En tal
sentido, esta investigación proporciona un marco general de relaciones y redes conceptuales desde
donde repensar la ontología y la estética fotográfica contemporánea.

ABSTRACT: This theoretical study proposes that, far from the end of photography, in reality we
are experiencing a continuation and extension without prior history of the photographic in the
digital age. Two general theses structure its argument. The first shows that we have moved past a
photo-dermatological regime (the contacted surface) to an ultraskin regime (liquid surfaces,
disembodied presences and the “possible digital”). The second indicates that this rupture between
photo-dermatology and the digital ultraskin, despite its radical nature, does not make but rather
revives and strengthens an always latent (and repressed) concept in photography, that of “avatar”.
Accordingly, this investigation provides a general framework of relationships and conceptual
networks from which to rethink the ontology and contemporary photographic aesthetic.
