dc.description.abstractThis new publication, prepared every two years, assesses steelmaking capacity in all non-OECD coountries in 1994 and provides an outlook for 1997. The report concludes that growth in non-OECD steelmaking capacity will be relatively high during the next several years. Most of the increase is expected to occur in Asia, where steel consumption has been expanding raidly in recent years. Inforamtion on investment in the industry is provided on a country-by-country an dplant-by-plant basis. Historical data on world steel production, consumption and trade illustrate the changing supply and demand relationships world-wide.
