Abstract

This report was prepared by lean Guinet of lhe OECD Secretariat. in the context of lhe Organisation's work on innovation and technology policy. It addresses three fundamental questions: How do financial systems support innovation efforts? Ooes their effectiveness depend on the type of national financial mechanisms? Has their effectiveness been increased by lhe recent deregulation and globalisation of financial markets? The OECD's Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy recommended that this report be made available to the public. It is published on the responsability of lhe Secretary-Genera! of the OECD.
