Resumen
The study was aimed at testing the validity of a statistics literacy test composed of six questions, applied to 236 college students from six technological programs who had recently completed a Statistics course. Answers were analyzed using categories presented by Watson and Callingham, based on interaction of SOLO Taxonomy and Hierarchy of statistical literacy (Tiers). Answers were classified using the item map of the Rasch model for partial credits. Psychometric properties of the questions provide evidence of the validity of the test to assess the "statistic literacy" construct, presenting satisfactory internal consistency and adequate infit and outfit values. The order of difficulty of the answer categories was also compared to that reported in the Watson and Callingham study. Results suggest that even in a different context of application (statistics background, age), the statistics literacy scale can be used for both groups. 24 40 873 895 Education Council, A., (1991) A National Statement on Mathematics for Australian Schools, , Carlton, Vic.: Author Batanero, C., (2001) Didáctica de la Estadística, , http://www.ugr.es/~batanero/publicacionesindex.htm, Granada: Grupo de Investigación en Educación Estadística (Dept. de Didáctica de la Matemática - Universidade Granada) .
