| dc.description | After the dismemberment of the Soviet Union, the situation in the region expermiented a lack of power due to the displacement of Russia to a position of neutrality derived from its political situation. Nevertheless,this country has never kept the eye out of those lands that once were part of its territory and symbolize part of its strategy in the future. Such is the case of Ukraine, a country that finds itself inthis situation due to its geostrategic location and division of influences, not only by the Western, but also by Russia. Nowadays, and derived from its energetic dependence, Ukraine has been in the need to carry out approaches to Russia, which may represent an outstanding brake in the so called Orange Revolution as this embodies an opportunity of approaching Western countries, opposing the Russian interest of perpetuating itself as the only great power influencing the region. | en-US |
| dc.description | Luego del desmembramiento de la Unión Soviética, la región experimentó un vacío de poder por el desplazamiento de Rusia a una posición neutral derivado de su condición política. No obstante, este país nunca perdió de vista a aquellos territorios que formaron parte de él y que simbolizan en gran medida su estrategia a futuro. Tal es el caso de Ucrania, un pueblo que se encuentra en esa circunstancia debido a su ubicación geoestratégica, dividido tanto por la influencia de Occidente como por Rusia. Actualmente, y como consecuencia de su dependencia energética, Ucrania ha tenido que llevar a cabo acercamientos con Rusia, lo que puede ocasionar un freno importante a la llamada "Revolución Naranja", en tanto que ésta representa una oportunidad para aproximarse a Occidente frente al interés ruso de perpetuarse como la única potencia con influencia en la región. | es-ES |
