dc.description | During fast-neutron irradiation in preparation for 40Ar - 39Ar age determination studies, krypton isotopes are formed from rubidium and strontium present in natural silicate minerals. Measurement of the 84Kr/86Kr ratio in irradiated samples admits the determination of their Sr/Rb ratio which is a parameter essential in evaluating the minerals for possible Rb-Sr studies. Interferences from other naturally occurring elements are evaluated and appear to be negligible. | en-US |
