dc.descriptionIn the construction of the Mexican nation-state model, based on Indian American otherness and the mestizo sector, the figure of African slaves ony appears as part of the colonial historical past, so that the social dynamics of contemporary African descendants are virtually invisible. Things have changed. Currently efforts aim to articulate its visibility as a social group,and legal figure, part of the landscape of cultural diversity in Mexico. Proof of the latter are the efforts that government institutions, with support from academic and civil society organizations, are making to account for their existence, both numerically and geographically, through surveys and various forms of ethnopolitical mobilization led by different segments of the population of the Costa Chica.The aim of this paper is to analyze on the relevance of including intangible cultural heritage in the process of ethnogenesis of this population, as part of the struggle for cultural rights and how they are linked –or not– with the black population settled in other parts of Mexico. en-US
dc.descriptionLa construcción del modelo de estado-nación mexicano, fundamentado en las alteridades indígenas y el sector mestizo, únicamente retomó la figura de los antiguos esclavos africanos como parte del pasado histórico colonial, dando pie a que la dinámica social de los afrodescendientes contemporáneos fuera prácticamente desconocida. Las cosas han cambiado. Actualmente se articulan esfuerzos por lograr su visibilidad como un grupo social, sujeto de derecho, que integra el panorama de la diversidad cultural en México. Prueba de esto último son los esfuerzos que desde las instituciones de gobierno, con apoyo de la academia y organizaciones de la sociedad civil, se están realizando para dar cuenta de su existencia, tanto numérica como territorialmente, a través de levantamientos de encuestas, así como con diversas formas de movilización etnopolítica encabezadas por distintos segmentos de la población de la Costa Chica. El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre la pertinencia de incluir el patrimonio cultural inmaterial en el proceso de etnogénesis por el que atraviesa esta población, en el marco de la lucha por sus derechos culturales, así como la forma en que se vincula –o no– con la población afrodescendiente asentada en otras latitudes del territorio mexicano.es-ES
