| dc.description | Los agricultores del Valle de Mexicali enfrentan permanentemente problemas de gestión y manejo del agua proveniente del río Colorado. La salinidad del río Colorado, los sedimentos arrastrados por la corriente del río desde la porción americana y la competencia por aguas subterráneas provenientes de las infiltraciones del Canal Todo Americano representan retos de gestión para los irrigadores. Esto es aún más complejo porque el área de riego se asienta en una zona altamente sísmica. El trabajo explora las capacidades de gestión de usuarios agrícolas para enfrentar dichas limitantes del desarrollo regional y del bienestar social y económico de sus habitantes. Se abordan fenómenos transfronterizos con impacto local en la eficiencia, equidad y sustentabilidad en el uso del agua.Se realiza un análisis institucional que permite caracterizar temas conflictivos en tornoa un recurso hídrico de uso común. | es-ES |
| dc.description | Farmers in the Mexicali Valley permanently face problems in the management of water from the Colorado River. The salinity of this river, the sediment swept along in its current from the United States, and the competition from subterranean streams seeping out of the All-American Canal represent management challenges for irrigators. The situation is evenmore complex than this because the irrigation area is located in a highly seismic zone. This study explores the management capacities of farm users to deal with these limitations on regional development, and the social and economic wellbeing of the inhabitants. It dealswith cross-border issues that have a local impact on the efficiency, equity and sustainability of water use. An institutional analysis is carried out that makes it possible to characterize areas of conflict arising from the common use of a hydraulic resource. | en-US |
