SE DISCUTEN LOS CONCEPTOS DE DESEMPLEO, SUBEMPLEO, POBREZA URBANA Y SECTOR INFORMAL, Y SUS DESDOBLAMIENTOS EN MÉTODOS DE MENSURACIÓN DE LA PRECARIEDAD DE EMPLEO Y RENTA DE VASTOS SEGMENTOS DE TRABAJADORES URBANOS. SE CRITICA ASIMISMO ”A PARTIR DE LOS TRABAJOS DE FRANCISCO DE OLIVEIRA” LA PERTINENCIA DE CONTINUAR USANDO LA DENOMINACIÓN DE ”INFORMAL” EN LOS ESTUDIOS SOBRE ESTA PROBLEMÁTICA.Conceived as the first part of a study designed to be used for government actions to support small urban producers in João Pessoa (Paraíba, Brazil), this article reviews the notion of the "informal sector" in recent Brazilian -and some Latin American- literature. It discusses the concepts of unemployment, under-employment, urban poverty and the informal sector and their conversioni n t omethods for measuring the precariousness of the employment and income of vast sectors of urban workers. On the basis of studies by Francisco de Oliveira, the article questions the relevance of continuing to use the term "informal" in studies of this problem.Conçu comme la première partie d'un travail qui devrait s'achever sur les actions gouvernementales de soutien à de petits producteurs urbains de João Pessoa (État du Paraíba, Brésil), cet article revoit la notion de "secteur informel" dans la littérature brésilienne -et latino-américaine, en partie- récente. On y discute les concepts de chômage, de sous-emploi, de pauvreté urbaine et de secteur informel, ainsi que leur traduction en méthodes de mesure de la précarité de l'emploi et des revenus de larges segments de travailleurs urbains. On y critique de même -à partir des travaux de Francisco De Oliveira- la pertinence de continuer à utiliser la dénomination d'"informel" dans les études sur cette problématique.Disponível em Inglês, Espanhol e Francês.
