The purpose of this work is to study 18th century New Spain in those aspects related to Jesuit thinking and spirituality, grace and freedom, creation and kindness, purification of reason and language linked to the polemic created by the Protestant Reform: the problem of the difference between effective grace and sufficient grace. The practice of meditation founded on the harmony between grace and liberty lends moral austerity an air materialized by the Society of Jesus at the end of the 17th and throughout the 18th century. The concordance between divine grace and human liberty will be the starting point of the Jesuit baroque, understood as creative capacity and a new way to influence reality.El propósito del trabajo es estudiar el siglo XVII novohispano, especialmente aquellos aspectos relacionados entre pensamiento y espiritualidad jesuitas, gracia y libertad, creación y bondad, purificación de la razón y un lenguaje que tiene como referencia la polémica suscitada por la Reforma, a saber: el problema de la distinción entre gracia eficaz y gracia suficiente. La práctica de la meditación fundada sobre la concordia entre gracia y libertad confiere a la austeridad moral tonos que a fines del siglo XVII y a lo largo del siglo XVIII materializa la Compañía de Jesús. La concordia entre gracia divina y libertad humana será el punto de partida del barroco jesuita entendido como capacidad creativa y forma nueva de incidir sobre la realidad.
