Resumen
This investigation aims to determine whether recreational
-
mathematics use
through
game
-
based
problem solving help and increase students’ mathematical
-
logical reasoning.
Scientific, deductive, analytical, logical, descriptive, and explanatory methods
were used for classwork with game
-
based problem solving whose solving
implied to pinpoint step by s
tep the logical procedure followed for solving, during
a semester.
The investigation hypothesis was to prove that the appealing
-
problem use
increase the students’ logical reasoning. It was proven in a population
comprised by students of first semester of
Graphic Design School at ESPOCH.
It was a 25
-
student sample, which was chosen at random.
Hypothesis was confirmed with the two
-
evaluation
-
test results as the 25
-
student
logical
-
mathematical reasoning levels at the beginning and end of the semester
were
increased from 46,08 % to 78,94 %. Therefore, not only was null
hypothesis rejected but the students’ reasoning
-
developing methodology
alternative used in this investigation was also
accepted.
From
the hypothesis testing
, it was inferred that working
with recreational
mathematics helped in developing the logical
-
mathematical reasoning greatly.
It is suggested that teachers use recreational mathematics to increase students’
logical
-
mathematical reasoning and get meaningful learning.
