O lugar da pré-escola na escola de ensino fundamental

This work is a monograph conducted at the Specialization Course in Teaching in Early Childhood Education offered by Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) in partnership with Regional University of Northwestern Rio Grande do Sul (Unijuí / RS) and Ministry of Education and Culture. Starting from the assumption that early childhood education is the first stage of basic education, and presents specific goals and objectives to them. Thus, the Preschool, although inserted next to the elementary school, it needs to be valued and recognized, not as a step that anticipates and prepares, but needs to establish its identity as a stage with its own characteristics. The general objective of the research is to discuss and defend the place of Preschool Education in Elementary School. In the context of this work, I used the place term not just referring to physical space, but the way Preschool constitutes acquires meaning, cultural, social and educational value, its function and needs, from the subjects involved in this institutional context, in order to contribute to the strengthening of its own identity. In this way, this work addresses the importance, the place and the role of Pre-School Education in Elementary School, discussing how these children are understood and their childhoods, the aims and pedagogical proposals designed for Early Childhood Education. In addition, I´ve brought reflections on my own teaching practice, contributing to the change in the design of early childhood education, set next to an elementary school, working with a group of Preschool children. In this paper, it was problematized and discussed journeys made in the reconstruction process of the Pedagogical Political Project, among my colleagues at the school where I work.
