Through a collaboration with the composer David Ortega and the author of this article, the work 'El Salado: Four contemporary pieces for Viola and Fixed Support' emerged. This article reflects on the process of creating the work, describes the importance of motivation in the process of musical learning, and the repertoire as a structural axis in curricular design. The pieces were composed based on the need to create new pedagogical resources for teaching the viola at the intermediate levels, especially for the adolescent student, to stimulate his motivation in practice. This work, consequently, offers new learning strategies from a contemporary musical language with which the student can develop technical and musical aspects through improvisation, sound exploration, and decision-making in the learning process.
